Potts Productions is a Dallas-based film/video production company founded in 1984 by Garry Potts. With a background in writing, cinematography and art direction, Potts uses imagination and state-of-the-art media production tools to create powerful and effective messaging for a wide range of clients in corporate communications, broadcast advertising, nonprofit advocacy and the entertainment industry.

BIO

Garry Potts has been writing, producing and directing films independently since the mid 1980's. His clients have included such Fortune 500 companies as American Express, DuPont, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, JCPenney, Nokia, PepsiCo and Texas Instruments. He has filmed in more than a dozen countries around the world and won over sixty international awards for creativity and craftsmanship in commercials, industrials and documentaries.

Potts first entered the film business as an intern for Jim Lehrer's award-winning public affairs program Newsroom at KERA Channel 13 in Dallas. He eventually worked his way into a staff position shooting and editing short 16mm documentaries.

Potts later moved into freelance commercial and corporate film production, first as a technician and later as an independent producer/director. During some of those years, Potts also taught video production at Southern Methodist University and at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas.

Garry Potts is a former president of the Dallas Producers Association and a current member of its board of directors. He has also served on the regional boards of Women in Film (the "token guy") and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers. Potts received his B. A. degree in Communication at Stanford University, during which time he also studied art history in Florence, Italy.
